Field Report is the new, massively hyped musical project of Milwaukee’s Christopher Porterfield, formerly of Conrad Plymouth. A long-in-the-works debut album—recorded at Bon Iver headquarters in Eau Clare, Wisconsin—isn’t expected until July, but until then, those hoping to still get in on the ground floor can catch Porterfield and company live. Songs like “I Am Not Waiting Anymore” and “Taking Alcatraz” recall the opaque majesty of Bon Iver, but are also grounded by an alt-country directness and Chris Porterfield’s rough, unaffected vocals.
