The Daily Show visits Wisconsin, tortures camel

As part of The Daily Show’s continuing coverage of “Crisis In Dairyland: Revenge Of The Curds,” Jon Stewart did his brilliant satirical thing all over our state’s budget crisis last night, expertly dissecting both sides (though, unsurprisingly, mainly tweaking Gov. Scott Walker). Stewart saved some of his funniest quips to skewer comparisons in the media between the recent upheaval in the Middle East and the protests in Madison. “Is this the same thing as people in Middle East overthrowing years of dictatorship,” Stewart asked, “or is that just the last story you saw on the news?”
We weren’t surprised by all the Cairo talk after hearing reports that Daily Show correspondent John Oliver was spotted in Madison with, of all things, a camel. Oliver didn’t appear in last night’s episode, so we assume his camel story will turn up either tonight or in the next few days. We hope the piece is funny, because judging by this video posted at thedailypage.com, camels are shockingly ill-suited for Wisconsin’s winter climate. Fortunately, the camel made it out okay, as you can see from the series of videos on the site, but it still seems like a lot of trouble for what’s quickly becoming a played-out joke.
