It's Danny Gokey Day tomorrow!

The reality show star will be all over town Friday

Well, he did it: Milwaukee native and cheap Google hit generator—er, we mean vitally important local news story—Danny Gokey has made the final three on American Idol. That’s right, Gokey has earned a place in a pantheon of superstars that includes Nikki McBibbin, Jasmine Trias, and Vonzell Solomon. It’s only a matter of time before this guy sells more records than Diana DeGarmo. Look out world!

What does this mean for you, person who doesn’t give a shit? It means that Idol is going to be pretty much unavoidable in downtown Milwaukee tomorrow, which has been declared Danny Gokey Day. Fox 6, of course, has all the details of Gokey’s visit, which includes: (1) A parade with Packers Aaron Rodgers, Greg Jennings, Nick Barnett, and Ruvell Martin; (2) A “mini-concert” at the Summerfest grounds; (3) A stop at Miller Park to throw out the first pitch at the Brewers-Cubs game. Gokey will also be stopping by an AT&T store, perhaps to apply for a job in case this Idol thing doesn’t pan out.

Decider has been watching Fox 6 this morning, and the maniacally cheerful anchors are mentioning Gokey in pretty much every other sentence. (Shockingly, you have to search pretty hard to find the Gokey news on the other TV station websites.)

One interesting Gokey tidbit that’s gone largely unreported in local media is that he has a huge advantage over the other contestants: He’s won the backing of Votefortheworst.com. Hey, whatever it takes to get Milwaukee some national TV face time, man.
